Interesting little somethings

Yesterday, I had a visit from a private investigator. She came into my home, sat on my couch and asked me fifteen minutes worth of questions while my cat rubbed his head on the zipper of her notepad portfolio. She had a leather badge cover and real federal “credentials.” I vacuumed before she got there. The questions she asked were regarding my friend from college who now works as a defense contractor. I made sure to let her know that I don’t believe he would ever sell military secrets. And I really don’t. I miss that friend. I haven’t seen him in a few years. He always made me laugh.

Today, I got a phone call from my coworker whose office is one floor below mine. He said he found a printout of my full LinkedIn profile sitting in the tray of one of the printers in our common area, which customers also use. He thought I’d sent it to the wrong printer. I definitely did not print my LinkedIn profile. He asked the team of interns that I supervise if it was one of theirs, and they denied it. I told him just to shred it. A moment of creepiness. LinkedIn lets you see the last five people who viewed your profile, though, and two of my last five are other female coworkers from other departments. I’ve decided to think that one of them liked the language I used and wanted to use it as a model. I’ve decided that there was no malevolence involved.
